Uncle Mikey!

Uncle Michael came to visit us for a few days on his spring break. Unfortunately for him, Julia is going through a time where she is a stage five clinger to her mom, so she was not always appreciative of his attention. Nevertheless, we made the most of his time here (I hope!) and had a great time with him. Hate that he lives so far away!

Here we have Julia studying Michael.

Fun at the trampoline park! Mikey had the best tricks and put everyone to shame and had more than one kid ask him how he could jump so high or if he could teach them how to do a flip (just can and no).

Getting out of the house between naps for a quick walk.

Breakfast at Waffle House. Micahel's fave. And Julia continues her studies.

A tearful goodbye...

Come back soon, Uncle Mikey!!

Here comes the sun!

After several consecutive weeks of snow, ice, rain, and cold, we finally got some sun! We've been spending more time outside soaking up this great weather.

Julia's first time swinging! She seemed to like it pretty well- even heard a few rare giggles.

 Family fun!

We took Julia to another park since she seemed to like it so much a few days ago, but I guess the novelty of swinging has already worn off.

Murphy loves this weather too because it means lots and lots of chuck-it!!

7 Months

This month might have been my favorite so far. Julia is so much more interactive now that she smiles and sits up and babbles away.

We've been going to different little story times and music and movement classes- Julia usually spends most of her time at these things just staring at everyone she can. Perhaps she is sick of just looking at me for the bulk of her days? She seems to like all the new things that are there to put in to her mouth and all the songs and other babies hanging out.

Julia is still an eating machine. Let's see... she's tried: green beans, peas, butternut squash, sweet potato, baked beans, refried beans, avocado, guacamole, flour tortillas, cottage cheese, cucumber, scrambled eggs, and lots of little tastes of other things we've eaten but I can't remember. We went out to eat last night a Mexican restaurant and I took the tortilla she was gnawing on away from her since she had about the entire thing shoved in to her mouth and she made a major freak out. Do not get between that girl and her food, unless you are prepared for her wrath.

Sleep is still pretty good. I tried to drop a nap so she should just have two a day, but I guess she wasn't quite ready for that, because she was a big cranky pants on the days I tried that out. Julia is still pretty great at sleeping through the night. We had a few rough nights this months where she woke up several times, but Jeff handles all those episodes, so I am not really sure what her deal was.

We've moved on (for the most part) from strangers asking if Julia is a boy or girl... Now the main comments we get are "Look at those blue eyes!" "She looks like the gerber baby" (that seems to be the most popular), and "Her cheeks are so big!" (which I take as a compliment because they are soooo cute!). Speaking of strangers, Julia is going through a pretty big stranger danger phase. Not fun. At this same time, she is also going through a phase (temporary, according to Dr. Carla) where she has developed an obsession with her mom, and I am barely able to escape her eyesight without a meltdown. It's exhausting.

Dear Julia,

You are such a delight! Of course you have your fussy moments, but overall, you are such a happy, fun baby! You are my little sidekick and best gal- I love spending my days with you and running around town with you in tow. You have the world's cutest smile and the sweetest laugh, but it's a rare treat for you to give us a laugh, which I totally don't understand as we are hilarious and work really hard to entertain you... but, I digress. Now please stop growing, and let's just enjoy your non-mobile state a little bit longer!

Love you, sweet baby.

"What a big girl!"

Julia hears that about 100 times a day when she's working on her new tricks/skills. Here are a few of the new things she is up to;

Julia sitting like a big girl in her new chair- so proud of herself. Murphy thought that was just a picture of him.

And relaxing in her chair like a teenager!

Riding around in the cart. Chewing on her pacifier clip, of course. Julia is also cutting her first tooth, but it's hard to get a picture of that. Just trust me. It's there. It's sharp. It's interfering with sleep.

A master at sitting! (Just trying this romper on to see how it fit!)

Eating a lot of different foods. Loving these mum-mums that make a big sticky mess.

Enjoying her new ducky bathtub. She kicks and splashes like crazy in this thing!

She's even good at taking selfies!
Oh, how I LOVE spending my days with these sweet, growing girl.
